Once the film is peeled away, either hot or cold depending on the film type, the design remains securely adhered to the garment.

Without the powder, you’d be left with a design that might appear to be transferred initially, but it would be incredibly fragile. It wouldn’t withstand even a gentle wash. The ink would likely crack, peel, or flake off, leaving a patchy and unsightly mess. Furthermore, the design would have a plasticky, raised feel, rather than the soft, integrated feel of a properly powdered and pressed DTF transfer.

The powder is not just a mere accessory; it’s an integral component of the DTF system. It’s the key to achieving the vibrant, durable, and flexible prints that make DTF technology so popular. So, while you can technically print on DTF film without powder, it’s utterly pointless if your goal is to create a usable, lasting garment decoration.
