DTF film is designed for single-use applications and is not intended for reuse. The specialized coating on the film, which is crucial for proper ink adhesion, is effectively depleted during the initial printing and transfer process.
Attempting to reprint on a used film will almost certainly lead to unsatisfactory results, including poor ink adhesion, blurry prints, and a compromised transfer. The coating, engineered for a specific interaction with the ink and powder, is altered after the first use, making it unreliable for subsequent prints. 1 Therefore, to ensure high-quality and consistent DTF transfers, it’s essential to use fresh film for each print. While the PET material composing the film has the possibility of being recycled, due to the coatings, and the makeup of those coatings that is applied to DTF films, normal recycling processes are often not able to be applied.Â
