DTF Printing Usage Instructions

Storage

  • Store the roll in a cool and dry place. Do not touch with wet hands.
  • Keep away from moisture.

Printing

  • Wear rubber or cloth gloves to load the roll.
  • Relative humidity of the environment should be 45 to 55% RH.
  • Unwinding tension should be low or medium.
  • Print on the matte coated side. The printing side is marked on every roll.
  • Use high-quality DTF inks for best results.
  • It is suggested to keep the printing heater on at 50°C (120°F).

Powder Application

  • Apply powder within 1 minute of printing to avoid ink overdrying and oiling issues.
  • Use Ultranex hot melt thermoplastic polyurethane (PU) adhesive powder, particle size 100µ to 200µ, after printing.

Drying

  • The machine’s set temperature could be between 110°C and 130°C or 230°F and 265°F,  (Depends on Machine to Machine .
  • Dry/cure at 160°C to 180°C or 320°F for 2 to 4 minutes. (Temperature mentioned here is temperature received to the film & not the set temp. of oven.)

Storage of Printed Labels

  • Cover the printed roll in a sealed plastic bag away from moisture.
  • For cut labels, if the relative humidity is high, place absorbent paper between each print.(This will absorb moisture from the labels in storage.)

Transfer Conditions

  • Before transfer, if there is oil on the label, dry it by pressing with absorbent paper or heating for 1-2 minutes at 160°C  or 230°F.
  • Transfer temperature: 140°C to 160°C, 15 to 8 seconds. Pressure: 2 to 4 bars depending on the size of the heat press. If using a manual press, ensure pressure is correct and even on all sides.
  • Although the Ultranex DTF film is a hot peel film, for best results, soft feel, and wash stability, peel the film after 10 seconds of transfer.
  • If the transfer pressure, temperature, and time are correct, repressing the transfers is not necessary. However, if you see moisture on the transferred image, wipe it off with a damp cloth or repress using parchment paper.
